Temperatures jump above normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures hovered between one and four degrees Celsius above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday as rain showers at few places lift up humidity levels in the region.

Maximum temperatures hovered between one and four degrees Celsius above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday as rain showers at few places lift up humidity levels in the region.

The humidity levels oscillated between 60 and 84% in several parts of the region, the MeT report said.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Hisar was hottest with a high of 39.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.

Bhiwani settled at a high of 37 degrees, while the maximum temperature at Amritsar was 36.8 degrees, three notches above normal.

Among other places, Patiala and Ludhiana had a high of 35.7 degrees, one and two notches above normal respectively, followed by 35.5 degrees at Chandigarh, 34.9 degrees at Ambala, and 34 degrees at Karnal.

The local MeT office has predicted light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers at isolated places in the region during the next 24 hours.
