Three booked for cheating on pretext of sending abroad

The local police booked three people on charges of duping three on the pretext of sending them abroad in separate incidents reported here, on Tuesday.

The local police booked three people on charges of duping three on the pretext of sending them abroad in separate incidents reported here, on Tuesday.

In the first incident, the police booked two people for allegedly cheating Raipur Khurd and Zirakpur residents on pretext of sending them aboard. The accused were identified as Ikwinder and Surinder, both residents of SAS Nagar. They allegedly took `18.75 lakh from Raipur Khurd resident Rajesh Gupta, and Zirakpur resident Sanjeev to send them abroad but neither sent them nor returned the money.

The victim had approached the accused after reading an advertisement in the newspaper.

Acting on the complaint, a case of cheating and criminal conspiracy under Sections 420 for cheating and 120-B for criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 24 of the Immigration Act have been registered in the Industrial Area police station.

In another incident, Sandeep Rai, a resident of Sector 39, alleged that Rakeshwar Soni cheated him on the pretext of sending him abroad. A case has been registered at the Sector-39 police station.
