Three crushed under rolling boulders in Nagrota Bagwan

In a tragic incident, three people were killed after the car they were travelling was crushed under rolling boulders at Jasaour link road near Nagrota Bagwan town in Kangra district on Tuesday.

In a tragic incident, three people were killed after the car they were travelling was crushed under rolling boulders at Jasaour link road near Nagrota Bagwan town in Kangra district on Tuesday.

Police official told that the incident took place around 11:30 am at Tika Kaned village in Tharu panchayat.

The deceased have been identified as Navdeep Thakur (38) of Badoh Road, Dhirender Sharma (30) of Ghurkadi and Raj Kumar (40) of Tanda road area. The trio was working as government contractors and was active members of Congress party.

Eyewitnesses told that the three were on the way from Nagrota Bagwan to Jasaur when boulders rolled down a small hillock.

The residents had already started the rescue operation before a team from Nagrota Bagwan police station reached the spot. The rescuers faced a tough time in retrieving the bodies as the vehicle was badly crushed. The bodies could be identified by the identity cards.

Meanwhile, the angry villagers raised slogans against the public works department (PWD) for its ignorant attitude. People told that they have been demanding the department to remove loose boulders on hillock for quite long but no one paid heed.

Transport minister GS Bali, who represent the Nagrota Bagwan constituency, expressed grief over the death of the three people and has also assured all possible help to the aggrieved families. The Nagrota Block Congress Committee also expressed grief over the incident.
