An official of the Haryana State Marketing Board (HSMB) said on condition of anonymity that Hooda had decided set up a model where farmers could earn profits by selling their agriculture products without middlemen's involvement.

Despite being equipped with facilities like information on daily market rates, an information centre, pre-cooling & cold storage, grading & packing, weighing scales, plant health clinic and nursery, there was a lack of clarity in allotting shops to beneficiaries, said a woman official of department. She added that this was the reason behind the failure of the bazaar.

She said a few officials wanted the bazaar to be exclusively meant for farmers to sell their products, while a few others wanted the bazaar to be used for other purposes.
