Naveen was playing when he fell into the pit at around 6 pm, which had been dug by the contractor for earthing purposes, where construction of ITBP flats is going on.

Immediately, the police, a team of doctors from both Government hospitals of Sector 16 and 32, an ambulance and fire fighters rushed to the spot for rescue operations. Naveen was pulled out after the operation of two and half hours.

A JCB bulldozer and earthmovers were used to dig a borewell parallel to the one Naveen had fallen into and rescue team member went inside and pulled the child out. Oxygen was also administered through a pipe.
