The police have booked two men for allegedly sending vulgar messages to city-based girls.

In the first case, the complainant alleged that an unidentified man had been sending obscene messages containing derogatory language to her email address. The police said they were verifying the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the accused to identify him.

In a similar case, the complainant alleged that a man had been sending obscene text messages on her mobile phone. The accused has been identified as Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a resident of Ambala Cantt.

Jaspal Singh, inspector, UT Cyber Crime Cell, said the girl had approached the police with a complaint that Sandhu had threatened her and was sending vulgar text messages, following which they registered a case under section 66A of the Information Technology Act 2000 and initiated investigation to trace the accused.
