It is worth mentioning that on Friday as many as 70 inmates were taken to the garden for a trip by the Snehalaya authorities. When they returned, two inmates were found missing.

The UT social welfare department director Tilak Raj said an inquiry had been marked and the Snehalya authorities had been asked to prepare a detailed report mentioning details regarding all those who went with the children, and reasons behind missing of the two inmates.

Snehalaya is a home for destitute children in Maloya and is managed by the UT's social welfare department. Two teenagers, Deepak Pandey, 15, and Kanak, 16, had gone missing from the Japanese Garden. Police have registered a case of kidnapping in the matter and efforts are on to track the children.
