Vibhore Bansal is new AFT Bar president

Advocate Vibhore Bansal has been elected as president of Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) Bar Association, here on Thursday. He will be the fourth president of the AFT Bar since its formation.

Advocate Vibhore Bansal has been elected as president of Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) Bar Association, here on Thursday. He will be the fourth president of the AFT Bar since its formation.

First president of the tribunal was major Navdeep Singh, followed by Suveer Sheokand and then SK Sharma. Bansal will serve as president for a period of one year.

Abhimanyu Sharma has also been chosen as vice-president and Ganesh Sharma as secretary. Lawyers have not reached to a conclusion for the post of a treasurer.

Chandigarh Bench of the AFT, having three benches, has the jurisdiction over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

While talking to Hindustan Times, Bansal said, "I will work for a better co-ordination between the bar and bench and for the welfare of advocates."

He added, "I will ask Punjab and Haryana Bar Council to donate funds for basic requirements of the AFT advocates."
