Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI in graft case

The Vigilance Bureau (VB), Punjab on Thursday nabbed an ASI red-handed, while accepting bribe. ASI was demanding bribe to take further action on a complaint of an accident case.

The Vigilance Bureau (VB), Punjab on Thursday nabbed an ASI red-handed, while accepting bribe. ASI was demanding bribe to take further action on a complaint of an accident case.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the VB said Harjinder Singh of Dhudianwal village, Sultanpur Lodhi Tehsil in Kapurthala lodged complaint that ASI Manjit Singh, posted as in-charge at Bhulana (RCF) police post was demanding Rs 10,000 to take further action on the complaint filed by him regarding the accident between the scooter of his grandfather and car of another party.

Acting on the tip off, the team of Vigilance Bureau Unit, Kapurthala led by DSP Kulwant Rai laid trap and caught Manjit red-handed with the bribe money of Rs 10,000.

A case under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered against the ASI in the Vigilance Police Station, Jalandhar Range.
