A government spokesman said Vohra reached frontier areas of Baramulla district up to Aman Setu, the place where passengers and load carriers cross over to Muzaffarabad on the other side of Kashmir.

"The GOC 19 Infantry Division and Brigadier Raju briefed the governor about the security situation in Uri sector and beyond," the spokesman said.

The governor lauded the army officers and jawans for guarding the frontiers of the country in challenging conditions, far away from their homes.

The official said Vohra also took stock of the pace of work on the execution of 240 MW Uri-II Hydel Power Project being constructed by the NHPC on the Jehlum in Uri.

At a meeting with the management of the NHPC, the governor was briefed about the status of completion of various components of the project.

"He expressed concern over the factors which had led to the delay in the commissioning of this vital project, causing denial of the much needed power to the state and a monthly loss of Rs 40 crore to the nation," the spokesman quoted the governor as saying.
