The foundation stone laying ceremony of the station was performed by PSPCL chief managing director (CMD) KD Chaudhary.

CMD KD Chaudhary said, “PSPCL has taken up the work of de-loading the existing 66 KV substation of the PSPCL beyond the limit of 70% up to May 2015. An expenditure to the tune of `300 crore shall be spent for this purpose and Chaura Bazaar is a part of this project.”

“Overloading and low voltage is a common phenomenon around Chaura Bazar area and the space constraint is also being faced to set up conventional substation in the area for improving the supply system. Thus, PSPCL has decided to set up an advanced technology-based 66 KV gas insulated substation here,” Chaudhary said.

He said, “The project costing `10 crore will be completed in six months. This was the first project of this kind in the state and should usher in a new era of technological advancement. This should ensure quality power supply to the commercial establishments and general consumers of this area.”
