Holding a 25-year-old man guilty of trying to rape his minor neighbour, additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla awarded him 10-year jail on Friday.

Presiding over a special court for crime against women, Shukla also imposed a fine of `50,000 against Anand. The victim's statement and her identifying the accused led to his conviction.

UT police had booked Anand on August 8, 2013, on allegations of trying to rape his minor neighbour. While testifying before the court, the victim identified Anand and reiterated her allegations that he tried to rape her.

The victim's mother had told the court that her daughter was known to Anand and the two were going to get married. She had even denied that her daughter was a minor.
