A youth was shot at by some youngsters at Janesaro village here on Monday.
Gurvinder, who belongs to dalit community was hit in his right arm and admitted to PGI in Rohtak where he is scheduled to undergo an operation.
According to the victim's mother's statement to the police, Gurvinder was disowned by the family long back due to his alleged indulgence in anti-social activities.
Police sources said at least two accused belong to scheduled caste and teams were in the process of identifying the other accused.
"It is a case of rivalry over some unknown issue.Certain motorcycle-borne youngsters reached at Janesaro in the morning and fled from spot after injuring Gurvinder," said superintendent of police (SP) Shashank Anand.
He clarified that the police would record victim's statement after the doctors declare him medically fit.
Police was also investigating the criminal involvement of the victim in any past case, SP added.
