After a 11-year-old boy was killed in T Narsipur of Mysuru taluk in a leopard attack, Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said that a special team is being constituted to catch the leopard. He also said that he instructed the forest officials to conduct searches in surrounding areas with the special teams and nab the leopard soon.
Speaking to the reporters, CM Basavaraj Bommai said, "All the necessary steps will be taken to capture leopard and also watchmen will be deputed in the border areas to create awareness among the people. The villagers are also requested not to step out of their houses after sunset. It is sad that a 11-year-old boy lost his life and places of three leopard attacks are situated within a 2 km range. The officials are ordered to conduct searches in areas where the incidents are regularly happening."

Bommai also said that the compensation is increased to the families of people who lost lives in the attacks of wild animals. “The government has already increased the compensation given to deaths due to the attacks of wild animals and the ex-gratia will be paid to the families of the deceased immediately. The incident has been taken seriously and the leopard will be captured as early as possible,” added Bommai.
Forest officers said Jayanth, an 11-year-old boy from Horanahalli in T Narasipura, went for defecation in the open at around 8 pm on Friday and his body was found on Saturday evening. This is the second death by a leopard in the last four days and the fourth in three months. On Friday, a leopard killed Siddamma, a 60-year-old woman, in the backyard of her house.
