A 22-year-old man was shot dead allegedly over a monetary dispute in the Aman Avenue situated near the Gate Hakima area on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Rahul. Police have also arrested three persons—Mohinder Bhatti and his sons Mayank and Haider—in connection with the murder.
The incident took place at around 11:30 pm when the victim along with his relative Sawan was present at a house-turned-godown for storing food items for catering in the locality, police said. The godown is situated opposite the house of the accused.
Rahul’s brother-in-law Gaurav said, “A few years ago, Rahul had taken ₹ 1.5 lakh loan from accused Mohinder Bhatti. The loan amount and the interest was paid to the accused. However, the accused wanted to illegally grab Rahul’s godown, the papers of which were pledged while taking the loan amount. Rahul had already approached the police complaining against the excesses of the accused and an amicable settlement was made. But the accused continued harassing Rahul.”
He said, “On Tuesday night, when Rahul was present in the godown for collecting some catering related food, the accused started thrashing him. When some people came to save Rahul, the accused pumped bullets into his body, killing him on the spot.”
Police have registered a case under Sections 302 (murder), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Sections 25-27 of the Arms Act against the accused at the Gate Hakima police station.
