In a joint operation, the narcotics control bureau (NCB) and Border Security Force (BSF) have seized 3 kilograms of heroin near the border out post (BoP) DS Pura falling under the Ajnala sub-division of Amritsar.
The contraband was smuggled from across the border using a drone. It was lying in a field situated between the zero line and the barbed wire fence.
“Field intelligence was gathered by NCB Chandigarh that a drone from Pakistan had dropped contraband in Ajnala sector which smugglers are trying to retrieve,” said a spokesperson of NCB. He said based on the specific input, a joint search operation was carried out with BSF at BOP DS Pura - Ajnala .
“During the search, total 3.040 kg suspected heroin was recovered from a field. The smugglers had installed special LEF lights on the contraband so that it can be identified by the Indian smugglers,” he added.
