Eight persons, including a child, were injured when a private bus hit a stationary truck on the Talwara-Mukerian road in Hoshiarpur district on Tuesday.
The truck was heading towards Hajipur after unloading goods in Talwara when driver Tara Chand took a halt at the roadside near Jhir Da Khooh as, according to the driver, he was unwell. While he was resting inside the vehicle, a “speeding” bus coming from Talwara side hit the truck from the rear side.
At least eight bus passengers and the driver sustained injuries. Police officials said they, with the help of local residents, took the injured to the Mukerian civil hospital. Talwara station house officer Satpal Singh said an FIR was registered against the bus driver and necessary action was being taken.
