The threats came just two days after an IED blast outside the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier headquarters in Jalandhar.

Among the schools that received the emails were BSF Senior Secondary School, located inside the BSF complex, and several branches of Apeejay Schools. Following the alerts, school authorities suspended classes and asked students to leave the premises as police teams launched anti-sabotage operations.

Additional deputy commissioner of police Akarshi Jain said bomb disposal squads and police personnel were promptly deployed to all affected schools.

“Preliminary investigations have found the threats to be frivolous in nature,” police officials said after extensive searches failed to uncover any suspicious object.

Cyber teams have begun tracing the IP addresses from which the emails were sent, while security agencies continue to maintain heightened vigilance across the city.
