The CIA-2 unit of Ambala police arrested a convict out on bail with 22.16 kg marijuana on Wednesday.
Police said he is a habitual offender; he had been booked in five similar cases in the past and convicted in two of them.
The accused, identified as Munna Shah, a resident of Mahesh Nagar in Ambala Cantonment, was arrested near Tangri Bridge, said Ambala superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa .
“It has been learnt that the accused procured the contraband from Bihar. He is a habitual offender and he had been booked in five similar cases in the past. He was convicted in two of them and awarded sentences of three years and six months, respectively,” the SP said.
Randhawa added that the accused had been granted bail after being lodged in jail for a year.
