Bathinda senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gulneet Khurana said that a mela was going on at Durga Mandir at Maisar Khana village during the Navratri festival. “On October 20, late at night, some unidentified persons killed Mandeep Singh of Maisar Khana village and injured Ranjit Singh, also of Maisar Khana. The accused fled from the spot, and a special team was constituted to trace them,” he said.

“During the investigation, it was found that Mandeep along with his friend went to the mela. At the venue, Mandeep had an argument with Jagdeep. Following this Jagdeep gathered other accused and attacked Mandeep with sharp-edged weapons. Mandeep died on the spot, while his friend Ranjeet was injured,” he said.
