Juvenile among 4 held for snatching at knifepoint in Chandigarh

The snatching incident had taken place after a quarrel near the petrol pump in Sector 56, Chandigarh

Two days after snatchers targeted a youngster in Sector 56, police apprehended four people, including a juvenile, on Saturday.

The arrested accused are Ravi, 19, Sawan, 22, and Bobby, 18, all residents of Mohali.

Their juvenile accomplice has been sent to an observation home. The snatched mobile phone, knife and motorcycle used in the crime have been recovered.

A case was registered under Section 379B (snatching after preparation made for causing death) of the IPC on November 25. Police personnel said on Thursday around 8.35 pm, the control room received an alert that a quarrel was taking place near the petrol pump in Sector 56, Chandigarh.

When police team reached the spot, they found an injured person on the slip road.

The victim, Aakash Singh, 20, of Sector 56, Chandigarh, was rushed to GMSH, Sector 16.

In his statement, the complainant said that he was walking when two young boys restrained him by grabbing his arms.

Three bike-borne men snatched the mobile phone of a man in Kajheri village near Beant Singh Library, Sector 42, Chandigarh. A case was registered.

Panchkula Two persons allegedly involved in snatching incidents were arrested on Saturday.

The accused, Aarif and Shdaab Khan of Zirakpur, have been sent to police remand till November 28.

In August, the accused had snatched the gold chain of one Nisha Devi, of Sector 15, and tried to flee on a two-wheeler. However, as it did not start, they left the vehicle in Sector 16 and fled. Cops had found a country-made pistol and two cartridges in the two-wheeler.
