Chandigarh: Labourer crushed to death in Dhanas

A labourer crossing the road near Marble Market in Dhanas was crushed to death by a speeding SUV on Friday morning, officials said. The driver of the car also sustained injuries

Bibhav Kumar of Kachhi Colony was crossing the Dhanas road when the mishap took place.

Police said Bibhav Kumar of Kachhi Colony, Dhanas, was crossing the road around 10 am when a vehicle driven by Suraj Kumar from the Mullanpur side struck him. Bystanders said Bibhav was flung into the air while the driver lost control of his car and crashed into an electricity pole.

The police control room was informed and the injured were rushed to the PGIMER where Bibhav was declared brought dead. An accidental death case has been registered against Suraj Kumar, who works at Mobile Market of Sector 22, officials added.
