A 22-year-old resident of EWS Colony in Dhanas hung himself over a ₹40,000 debt accrued from online gaming. The body was recovered from his house on Thursday morning and the police were informed.

According to police, they had accessed the victim’s phone and noted many gaming, betting and loan applications. The victim had also taken money from his father’s account and messaged his sister before hanging himself, officials said.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings into the matter.
