Chandigarh MC issues 13,401 challan for littering

The Chandigarh municipal corporation has issued challans amounting to 13,401 as part of strict action against violators for littering and improper waste disposal practices.

Challans were issued against the Bank of India, Sector 47 branch, and Nizam Tailor, Burail, for violations of the solid waste management (SWM) rules and MC bye-laws. Both establishments were found responsible for littering in public areas and failing to maintain proper segregation and disposal of waste as per the rules.

Commissioner Amit Kumar said that the MC reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards any act of littering or non-compliance with SWM regulations. He further stated that failure to comply will invite strict penal action, including heavy fines and possible prosecution under the relevant sections of the Municipal Act.
