Chandigarh officials self-enumerate as Census training begins

The self-enumeration process was launched in Chandigarh on Thursday with senior officers of the administration like mayor Saurabh Joshi and deputy commissioner, Nishant Kumar Yadav, chief secretary H Rajesh Prasad completing their self-enumeration process on the official online portal (https://se.census.gov.in), setting an example for citizens to actively participate in this important national exercise.

Simultaneously, the UT administration commenced an extensive training programme for enumerators and supervisors.The training sessions will continue till April 29, 2026, and aim to equip field functionaries with the necessary skills to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.

Approximately 2,800 officials will undergo structured training during this period. The officials emphasised that active citizen participation is crucial for generating accurate data, which serves as the foundation for effective policy-making, planning, and implementation of welfare schemes.

The department has intensified awareness campaigns across the city to encourage maximum participation.
