Chandigarh tricity logs 54% spike in daily Covid cases

Both Chandigarh and Mohali logged eight cases each, up from seven and two, respectively, on Wednesday; but Panchkula recorded just one case after two the day before

The tricity reported 17 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, a 54% increase from 11 infections a day ago.

Both Chandigarh and Mohali logged eight cases each, up from seven and two, respectively, on Wednesday. But Panchkula recorded just one case after two the day before.

Due to this, there was just a marginal change in tricity’s active cases, which decreased from 137 to 133 over the past 24 hours. Mohali still has 61 infected patients, Chandigarh 58 and Panchkula 14.

Also, there was no virus-related death for the eighth straight day. The last death was reported by Mohali on March 2, which is the only fatality in the tricity so far this month.

As many as 91,834 people in Chandigarh have tested positive for Covid-19 to date. While 90,611 have recovered, 1,165 have died.

Mohali’s total cases of 95,646 comprise 94,437 recoveries and 1,148 deaths.

In Panchkula, 44,091 infections have been reported so far. Among them, 43,663 have been cured, but 414 have succumbed to the virus.
