The Chandimandir police booked an unidentified driver under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a fatal hit-and-run accident on the Nada Sahib flyover.
The victim, identified as Gagan, a resident of Dera Bassi, was returning home from his workplace, a mobile repair shop in Sector 22, Chandigarh, on February 28. According to the police, Gagan was riding his two-wheeler when a speeding car, reportedly travelling on the wrong side of the road, struck him and ran over him.
He sustained serious injuries and was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he was declared dead on arrival. Gagan is survived by his wife, Kajal, and their two-year-old son; the couple had married in 2023.
Two fatal hit-and-run accidents were reported in Panchkula in the last two months.
