On the intervention of Baramulla Member of Parliament, Engineer Abdul Rashid, the Union ministry of culture has advised the implementing agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for proposed auditoriums in four districts of north Kashmir, the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) said on Sunday.

The AIP, led by incarcerated Er Rashid, said that the culture ministry has advised preparing DPRs and other requisite documents for the proposed auditoriums at Bandipora, Baramulla, Beerwah(in Budgam) and Kupwara. This followed Er Rashid’s intervention, as he had raised the issue with the Union Finance Minister seeking financial assistance for these important cultural infrastructure projects.

AIP chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that Er Rashid, in his letter to the Union finance minister, sought financial assistance for constructing four auditoriums, besides the release of funds for the completion and finishing work of the already constructed auditorium at Hangah, Handwara.

“The ministry, in its response, informed Rashid that the issues he raised have been examined and that the scheme ‘financial assistance for creation of Tagore Cultural Complexes (TCCs)’ is undergoing a revamp, while a new scheme comprising infrastructure-related components, including Tagore Cultural Complexes, is presently under finalisation,” Nabi said.
