Eid congregation held at Hazratbal as Jamia Masjid restrictions continue

Omar and NC president Farooq Abdullah offered Eid prayers at Dargah Hazratbal, where thousands of worshippers gathered.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq claimed that he was placed under house arrest and prayers were not allowed at Jamia Masjid.
“For the 8th consecutive year, Muslims of Kashmir have been denied the right to offer Eid prayers at the historic Eidgah/Jama Masjid, and I have been placed under house arrest…,” Mirwaiz wrote on X.
He said it was “unfortunate that children in Kashmir are growing up without witnessing the spiritually uplifting Eid prayers at Eidgah and the festivities there”. “An entire generation is being deprived of knowing their traditions and making memories that have shaped our collective life for centuries, he said.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti condemned the government for placing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq “under house arrest”.
