The Punjab Lit Foundation (PLF), a non-government organisation (NGO), has launched its “fertiliser sewa” campaign aimed at providing free fertiliser (DAP) to small and marginal farmers who lost their crops in the recent floods.

The distribution process has been started for farmers in Rarra, Tahli and Gandhowal in Hoshiarpur district. PLF founder Khushwant Singh said the aim was to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Punjab’s farming community.
“Our aim has always been to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Punjab’s farming community. Fertiliser Sewa is another step in our journey of supporting those who nurture the land,” said Singh.
Co-founder Sanna Kaushal said, “Earlier, the PLF provided around 20,000 sanitary pads to the Red Cross in the state.” The campaign is supported through individual and corporate contributions under PLF’s community-giving framework, under a sponsor an acre scheme , which encouraged citizens and institutions to sponsor agricultural inputs for needy farmers. District agriculture development officer Lovejit Singh said the department assisted the PLF in identifying farmers owning between one and five acres of land. Under the first phase of Fertiliser Sewa, DAP fertiliser was distributed to 103 farmers, covering a total of 172 acres of farmland.
