The ground floor of a businessman’s house was damaged after a fire broke out at Posh City in Sector 92 on Saturday evening.

House owner Kastori Lal, who runs a food joint in the Phase-10 market, said the fire was caused by a short-circuit.
According to officials, no one was at home when the fire erupted. Some labourers working near the house spotted smoke billowing from its ground floor and raised the alarm, following which the house owners were informed.
Mohali sub-fire officer Sikandar Singh said, “We received information about the fire at 5.20 pm, and sent five firefighters and a fire tender to douse the flames. The ground floor was gutted, but timely firefighting kept the flames from spreading to the first floor. Our teams returned at 6.25 pm.”
Lal said apart from the walls and ceilings, multiple furniture articles and an AC were damaged.
“We are yet to ascertain the exact loss. The electricity department had cut off power to our locality six months ago over some issue, so we have been getting power through generators. But the voltage keeps fluctuating, which caused a short-circuit,” he added.
