The State Election Commission has announced elections for four civic bodies, including a municipal corporation, two municipal councils and one nagar panchayat, on July 5.
Elections will be held for the Hoshiarpur municipal corporation, Guru Har Sahai municipal council in Ferozepur, Jalalabad municipal council in Fazilka and Mamdot nagar panchayat in Ferozepur.
Nominations can be filed from June 22 till June 25. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 26 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be June 27.
Voting will be held through electronic voting machines from 8 am to 4 pm on July 5 and results will be declared the same day.
With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in the jurisdiction of these civic bodies. It will remain in place till the completion of the election process. The commission has made all logistical arrangements to conduct these elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
