A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl in Kapurthala’s Phagwara, police said on Monday. The accused has been identified as Prabhjot Singh.
Phagwara superintendent of police (SP) Madhvi Sharma said the crime took place on June 4 on the premises of a local gurdwara where the accused’s father works. “Prabhjot lured the victim with toffees and took her to his apartment on the gurdwara premises where the molestation took place,” Sharma said.
The matter came to light when the victim informed her mother about the incident. An FIR has been registered under Section 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police officials added.
