Haryana education board makes moral education compulsory for Class 9-12 students

The Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) has decided to teach moral education compulsorily in Hindi subject to students from Classes 9 to 12 during the academic session 2022-23.

According to Jagbir Singh, chairman of the BSEH, 10 marks questions of moral education will also be included in the Hindi examination to be held during March 2023. He said that questions will be asked from the moral education books prescribed/printed by the board and attempting all the questions of moral education will be compulsory in the examination.

The BSEH chairman said that information regarding religious and universal values given in the books of moral education include the teachings of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Buddha, Mahavir and Jesus Christ, besides the importance of yoga and pranayama and motivational couplets on patriotism and environmental protection, etc.

He said chapters of moral education books include health and yoga; Bharat Ratna, Madan Mohan Malaviya; the Birdman of India, Salim Ali; Veer Savarkar; Ashfaqulla Khan; Dr APJ Abdul Kalam; Havildar Abdul Hamid; Durgawati Devi; Dr Jagdish Chandra Bose; Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, etc. have been described in detail.
