Himachal assembly question hour: 14,000 treated at 79 de-addiction centres in 3 years, says minster

Himachal has a total of 79 de-addiction centres, of which two are run by the government and 77 are private, health minister Rajiv Saizal informed the assembly on Saturday.
In reply to a question asked by Palampur legislator, Saizal said that a total of 14,093 people were admitted to these centres for treatment in the last three years. The data tabled in the house revealed that maximum private centres were concentrated in three bordering districts—Solan, Una and Kangra. A maximum of 4,052 patients were provided treatment at various centres in Una in the last three years, 2,440 in Solan and 2,136 in Kangra.
De-addiction centres across the state have a collective bed capacity of 2,385. Solan centres have a bed capacity of 740, Una 620 and Kangra 450. Two centres being run in Mandi and Chamba have a capacity of only 28 beds.
544 Kullu villages sans mobile connectivity
Technical education minister Ramlal Markanda said that at present, there is a problem with mobile connectivity at 544 villages in the state. This includes four in Bilaspur, 89 in Chamba, three in Hamirpur, 16 in Kangra, five in Kinnaur, 114 in Kullu, 101 in Lahaul Spiti, 98 in Mandi, 47 in Shimla, nine in Sirmaur, 28 in Solan and two in Una. He was replying to a question raised by Kullu legislator Sunder Singh Thakur
A Software Technology Park of India (IT Park) is being set up at Chetru village in Kangra district, for which a project monitoring committee has been appointed, Markanda said in reply to a question by Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal.
Pre-construction activities such as concept design, floor layout and estimation are in progress and expected to be completed in four months. The work on the basic infrastructure of STPI will be completed in about 18 months by October 2023 after getting necessary approvals from the concerned local bodies, he said.
Budget will increase farmers’ income: Kanwar
Agriculture minister Virender Kanwar on Saturday said that the state budget presented by chief minister Jai Ram Thakur lays more stress on agriculture, animal husbandry and rural development and will boost the farmers’ income.
In a statement issued here, the minister said that the agriculture sector has been provided economic support during corona period, which was possible due to farmer-oriented schemes of the state government. The results of Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana have been very encouraging and Himachal’s efforts in this area have also been appreciated by the Prime Minister, Kanwar said. In this budget, a provision has been made to bring 50,000 acres of land under natural farming, he added. He said that farmer-producer organisations (FPOs) are being setup to provide direct linkage for farmers to market.
