Himachal CM calls on President Murmu, Vice-President Dhankhar
Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday; would also meet Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and likely discuss the expansion of his cabinet which has three berths lying vacant
Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called on President Droupadi Murmu here on Monday. It was a courtesy meeting, a statement from the CM office said.
Sukhu had earlier called on Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and discussed development and public welfare issues.
This is his first meeting with the president and vice-president after being elected as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh.
“Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called on President Droupadi Murmu at New Delhi today. It was a courtesy call. This is his first meeting with the President after becoming the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh,” the statement.
After meeting Dhankhar, Sukhu said he discussed many development and public welfare issues.
“It was wonderful to meet and interact with him on various development issues of Himachal,” Sukhu said in a tweet by his office.
The chief minister is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
Earlier, Sukhu’s meeting with PM was fixed for December 19 but was cancelled after he tested positive for Covid. He had left for Delhi from Shimla on Sunday. He is also likely to meet some Union minister to take up matters related to the state.
He would also meet Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and likely discuss the expansion of his cabinet which has three berths lying vacant.
The CM will return on Tuesday evening and head straight to Hamirpur town, where he will preside over the Statehood Day function on January 25.
