Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted an interstate Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terror module, arresting five people including a commander who remained at large for 16 years. The operative, identified as Abdullah alias Abu Hureira, had successfully established terror bases outside the Union Territory during his time on the run.

A second Pakistani terrorist, Usman, alias Khubaib, was also apprehended in a joint operation involving state police and central agencies.

Three Srinagar residents—Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat, and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama—were among those detained for allegedly providing shelter and food to the militants.

The investigation indicates the LeT network used forged documents to help at least one foreign terrorist flee the country.

The arrested operatives originally infiltrated India 16 years ago and remained active across the Kashmir Valley, during which time they commanded approximately 40 foreign terrorists, most of whom have since been killed by security forces.
