Speaking at a pre-budget consultation meeting that Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman held in Delhi, Khattar said Haryana should be given a special economic package as lots of resources have to be spent on the construction and maintenance of infrastructure in the NCR.

The chief minister said Haryana’s 25,327 square kilometre area and 1.64 crore population come under NCR which consumes a lot of resources for infrastructure, water, sanitation, urban development and connectivity.

Khattar said that in the NCR, Haryana government is spending money on the development of the KMP expressway, the rail orbital project, development of five cities across 2.5 lakh hectare along the KMP corridor as a Panchgram vision, an integrated multi modal logistics hub at Narnaul, an international horticulture market at Gannaur among other big projects.

He said that the Union government should continue the special assistance given for capital investment to Haryana.

Khattar said Haryana received 874 crore under this scheme in 2022-23 for the implementation of the Haryana orbital rail corridor project and urged the Centre to continue this scheme in future also.
