A 17-year-old boy has been booked on the charge of raping a minor, police said on Sunday.

An FIR was registered against the teen at the Model Town police station following the complaint of the girl’s mother. In her complaint, the woman has said that her daughter, aged 17, had befriended the accused. On August 18, 2025, her daughter eloped with the boy. Later on, they discovered that the duo married each other and started living together as a married couple. Out of social stigma, neither did they lodge a police complaint, nor informed anyone about them.
ASI Pardeep Kumar, investigating officer, said that the police received information from the civil hospital about the pregnancy of a minor girl and reached the facility to record her statement.
The FIR has been registered under Sections 137(2) (kidnapping), 96 (procuration of child), 64 (rape) of BNS and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
