Two miscreants assaulted a man and snatched his motorcycle in the Moti Nagar area on Tuesday morning, police said.
The victim has been identified as Jamshed.
According to officials, the incident occurred near Vishwakarma Colony Mandi around 9 am when Jamshed, who works in construction tying iron rods for lintel work, was on his way to Chandigarh Road. Two men reportedly blocked his path, engaged him in brief conversation, and suddenly began striking him on the head with sticks. Despite wearing a helmet, Jamshed sustained head injuries from the blows.
ASI Anil Kumar said the assailants fled with the motorcycle after the attack. “While no CCTV cameras were found at the exact spot, footage from nearby cameras is being examined,” he added.
Jamshed underwent a medical examination at civil hospital before filing a police complaint.
A case has been registered at Moti Nagar police station and a hunt is underway to nab the accused.
