Adding another feather to his cap, a clerk posted in Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana - Baljinder Singh clinched 9th position in the National Marathon, Delhi, held on Sunday.
Singh participated in the 30-40 age group category and completed the race in 2 hours 48 minutes and 43 seconds to achieve a new personal best. In total, 937 runners participated in the category and Singh bagged 9th position, earning a place in the Top 10. Overall, he achieved 20th position out of 4,173 participants.
According to experts, completing a full marathon in under 2 hours and 50 minutes is extremely challenging, and in Punjab, only a handful of runners are currently able to achieve the same. With this remarkable performance, Baljinder Singh has also qualified for the Boston Marathon and the Chicago Marathon.
37-year-old Baljinder Singh managed to accomplish this feat through hard work and discipline while continuing to perform his office duties. He began running after the age of 30 and initially participated in 5–10 km races.
