A 32-year-old daily-wage worker engaged in laying BSNL cables was killed after a container truck reportedly ran over him while reversing near Dehlon on Monday.

The driver abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled, police said. The deceased, identified as Karna Shankar, a native of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh, was working in the area and had reportedly been resting behind the container truck on the road connecting Lehra and Ghungrana villages.
According to a complaint lodged by his brother, Deepu, the truck driver reversed the vehicle without checking behind, causing the rear tyres to run over Karna Shankar. He died on the spot due to the severe injuries.
Investigating officer ASI Jagjit Singh said Dehlon police have registered an FIR against an unidentified driver under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS. “Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused,” he added.
