The State Election Commission has announced the nomination schedule for the forthcoming municipal council elections in Ludhiana district, setting the stage for the local body polls later this month.
As per the notified programme, candidates can file their nomination papers from May 13 to May 16 between 11 am and 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be undertaken on May 18, while May 19 has been fixed as the last date for withdrawal of candidatures.
Officials said aspirants contesting from Khanna municipal council can submit their papers at the meeting hall of the municipal council on Amloh Road. Candidates from Samrala municipal council will file nominations at the SDM courtroom.
For Doraha municipal council, nomination papers will be received at the construction sub-division office of PWD on GT Road, while candidates from the municipal councils of Payal, Jagraon, and Raikot can submit their papers at the SDM office courtroom concerned.
Polling for the municipal council elections will be held on May 26, while counting of votes is scheduled for May 29.
