Three persons have been arrested on Wednesday in connection with a recent firing incident outside a gym in Manuke village and cops recovered two firearms along with live cartridges from their possession, said the rural police.

According to the DSP Banal, the firing incident occurred on July 6, a case was registered on the complaint of Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Manuke village, who alleged that he was standing outside a gym when Pargat Singh arrived in an Alto car and fired two shots at him with the intention of killing him. The complainant claimed that he narrowly escaped the attack.

Following the registration of the FIR, teams of the crime investigation agency (CIA) staff and Hathur police launched a joint investigation. During the probe, the police arrested Pargat Singh and recovered a country-made .315 bore pistol along with four live cartridges from his possession.

During the interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that he had handed over another weapon used in the incident to Bhagwant Singh and Ruldu Singh. Acting on the information, police arrested both men and recovered a .32 bore pistol, allegedly used in the firing, along with two live cartridges.

Bike-borne assailants open fire on car

Ludhiana Two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at a man’s moving car on Tuesday evening at National Highway in Machhiwara.The victim has identified himself as Sumrinder alias Sumer, who claims to be a professor in Patiala.

The victim had reportedly visited Rara Sahib Hospital to inquire about the health of an acquaintance. He was returning to Patiala with his driver when the incident occurred on the highway.

According to Sumer, two men riding a motorcycle began following his vehicle and allegedly fired two shots at the car. Some belongings of the attackers fell onto the road during the incident and the assailants allegedly panicked and fled from the spot shortly, he added.

Following the attack, he contacted the police and investigation is underway.

During the probe, the victim informed police that he allegedly received a video call later the same night in which an extortion demand was made. Police are now conducting a technical analysis of the call to determine whether the caller was linked to the shooting incident.

Station house officer Sandeep Kumar said that they were exploring all possible angles and that it would be premature to draw conclusions at this stage. “Our immediate priority is to identify and apprehend the individuals seen firing in the video. The investigation is progressing and all aspects of the case are being examined,” the SHO said.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Police teams are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence to trace the suspects.
