Ludhiana: Two brothers killed, friend injured as speeding truck hits bike

Two brothers lost their lives and their friend sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident near Kali Sadak on Sunday night after a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle.

The deceased were identified as Damodar Kumar, 21, and his elder brother Shivmohan Kumar, 28, residents of Azad Nagar. Their friend, Manoj Kumar, 27, who was also riding the motorcycle, suffered severe injuries and is undergoing treatment.

According to the police, the three were travelling on a single motorcycle when the incident occurred. A truck, allegedly being driven at a high speed, hit the bike with great force, throwing all three riders onto the road.

ASI Baldev Singh, who was among the first to reach the spot, rushed the injured victims to Ludhiana civil hospital in his official vehicle. One of the injured, who had comparatively lesser injuries, was later shifted to the hospital by ambulance. Despite prompt medical attention, the two brothers succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The ASI added that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police teams are scanning the area and collecting evidence to identify and trace the absconding driver.
