Deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain has directed all private unaided schools, excluding minority institutions, to strictly implement the 25 per cent seat reservation for students from weaker sections and disadvantaged groups under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Education Act. The order aims to ensure fair access to quality education for eligible children.

As per a directive issued by the directorate of school education, all eligible schools must register on the official RTE portal by January 12. Schools have been instructed to upload accurate details related to entry-level seats, tuition fees and their certificate of recognition numbers.
Jain also made it clear that schools are not allowed to charge any capitation or screening fees, except for transportation charges, as per the orders of the department of school education, Punjab. He warned that strict action will be taken against institutions failing to follow the guidelines. Schools have been asked to carefully read the detailed instructions and standard operating procedures issued by the department to avoid penalties.
