The unidentified body of a young man was recovered from Buddha Nullah in Shivpuri area on Sunday morning, police said. Residents spotted the body and informed the police.
The body was retrieved and initial investigation suggests it may have drifted from another location.
Police said the body appeared to have been in the water for a few days. The deceased is yet to be identified, they said.
An officer from Division No 4 police station said we are investigating whether the man accidentally drowned or was thrown in the Buddha Nullah after being killed. The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
Police teams are examining CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace the origin of the body. Residents have been requested to inform the Division No. 4 police station if they have any missing relatives or acquaintances. Officials said they aim to establish the man’s identity within the next 72 hours.
