Ludhiana: Mayor meets 10-yr-old boy mauled by rabid dog

Mayor Inderjit Kaur on Monday visited the 10-year-old boy who was mauled by a rabid dog in Gandhi Colony of Model Gram on Sunday morning. The boy, who sustained severe injuries to his face, is undergoing treatment at the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital.

The mayor also interacted with his family members and discussed the medical condition of the child with the doctors treating him.

Kaur termed the incident unfortunate and expressed hope for early recovery of the boy.

Speaking about the steps taken by the civic body, the mayor said that the stray dog involved in the incident was removed from the area immediately after a complaint was received.“The municipal corporation has been continuously working to curb the stray dog population in the city and that over 1.19 lakh stray dogs have been sterilised so far under the ongoing animal birth control programme,” the mayor added.

Kaur also directed the concerned civic body officials to further expedite stray dog sterilisation project in the city to prevent such incidents in the future.
