A local activist has once again raised questions over the quality of work done by the municipal corporation (MC) after a portion of the road near Mintgomery Chowk in Model Town caved in on Tuesday, just months after a similar incident at the same spot.

Activist Arvind Sharma said that despite repeated complaints, the MC failed to carry out a permanent repair of the damaged stretch. He recalled that a major cave-in had occurred on August 1, damaging the main sewerage line and causing severe traffic jams in the area. The spot was repaired, but the road has sunk again, exposing the poor quality of work, he alleged.

Sharma added that the situation for commuters remains unchanged, as traffic jams and roadblocks continue to trouble residents. “It seems the civic body only believes in temporary fixes,” he said, urging the authorities to find a lasting solution.

An MC official, however, said the reason for the fresh cave-in would be examined before drawing conclusions. “We will inspect the site to identify the cause of leakage and ensure necessary repairs,” the official said.
