Maha govt, Taksal host 350th martyrdom anniv of Guru Tegh Bahadur

The event is being organised with support from the Maharashtra government and under the patronage of Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma

A two-day function commenced on Saturday in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the 350th Guruship Day of Guru Gobind Singh.

The event is being organised with support from the Maharashtra government and under the patronage of Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma.

Addressing the gathering, Dhumma thanked chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for facilitating the celebrations on a grand scale, highlighting that the efforts of the Maharashtra government have made every child in the state aware of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice for religious freedom and human rights.

“The main purpose of these centenary celebrations is to pass on the message of religious liberty, humanity, and justice to the younger generation,” said Dhumma. He also expressed gratitude to various communities, including the Lubana, Sindhi, Vanjara, Sikkaligar, Moheal, Valmiki, as well as religious groups like the Bhagat Namdev Ji sampraday, Udasi Sant Samaj, and Hazuri Khalsa, for contributing to the event’s success.

Prominent attendees included Swami Ramdev, who paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur and stressed the importance of remembering his sacrifice for the protection of Sanatan Dharma every day.
